Saturday, Pulmonologist Mohammad al-Tarawneh said the reason behind the rise in the number of COVID-19 deaths in Jordan is the rapid spread of the virus and the new coronavirus strain.

He added that the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases overwhelms the local health system and leads to exhaustion of healthcare workers.

Tarawneh called on the government to take the matter seriously and establish a specialized hospital for COVID-19 patients in need of intensive care. He said it would help reduce the pressure on hospitals and the number of coronavirus deaths, and ensure patients are receiving the best care.

Regarding the use of Dexazone, Tarawneh said international studies have shown that it reduces patients' need for breathing support and intensive care.
