The Netherlands issued 'code red' as it was hit by its first proper snowstorm in over 10 years. ’Storm Darcy’ hit Holland and parts of Germany Sunday, disrupting planes and trains, as well as shutting down COVID-19 testing centers.

Most parts of the Netherlands had between five and 10 centimeters of snow, with some areas getting 30 centimeters, according to public broadcaster NOS.

Temperatures accompanying the storm reached minus five degrees Celsius, along with winds of up to 90 kilometres an hour.

Dozens of flights were delayed or cancelled at Amsterdam's Schiphol airport and Eindhoven airport suspended all services. All trains were cancelled, including those heading to Germany. Trams were put on hold in Amsterdam and one tram derailed in the snow in The Hague.
