Thursday morning, the Kingdom's health directorates began administering the second dose of the coronavirus vaccine in Jordan, using the Pfizer-BioNTech and Sinopharm vaccines. Previously, the Ministry of Health announced that whoever took the first dose will take the second dose of the vaccine on Feb. 4.

The ministry indicated that a text message was sent to the recipient with details of the second dose.

On Jan. 13, Jordan began its national vaccination campaign.

The assistant secretary-general of health care at the Ministry of Health Ghazi Sharkas told Roya Wednesday that 40,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses remain in Jordan, noting that this number is enough to vaccinate those who received the first dose.

He added that a new batch of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine will arrive in the Kingdom in the middle of February, in addition to another 41,000 doses from the COVAX initiative.

Additionally, he noted that Jordan is currently negotiating with the Chinese company Sinopharm on a deal to supply the Kingdom with a large quantity of the vaccine.

On Jan. 11, the first batch of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines, containing 200,000 doses, arrived in the Kingdom.

The Chinese ‘Sinopharm’ vaccine arrived in Jordan on Jan. 10.
