The British judiciary decided Wednesday to keep the founder of WikiLeaks, Julian Assange, in detention pending consideration of the appeal filed by the United States challenging the decision not to extradite him.

Judge Vanessa Barritzer said that there are "serious reasons to believe that if Mr. Assange is released today, he will not appear before the court to face the appeal decision."
