His Majesty King Abdullah II Wednesday inaugurated the second military field hospital designated to receive coronavirus patients in Irbid. The Crown Prince His Royal Highness Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II also attended the event.

The hospital was built inside the Prince Rashid Bin al-Hasan Military Hospital and has been equipped with all the necessary equipment to treat coronavirus patients.

The hospital was established under the direct supervision of the Directorate of Housing Establishment and Military Works on 4,650 square meters. The hospital has 300 beds, 48 of which are intensive care beds and 18 are medium-level beds that can be converted into ICU beds.

The acting director general of the Royal Medical Services (RMS) Brigadier General Ahmed al-Omari said the hospital has 600 medical and administrative staff ready to work, but the number of working employees will depend on the number of patients admitted to the hospital.

Omari pointed out that the establishment of all field hospitals came following royal directives to enhance the role of RMS in providing health care and contribute to combatting the coronavirus crisis.

This is the second field hospital to open in the Kingdom. The third hospital is expected to open in the coming few weeks, bringing the total capacity of all field hospitals to 900 beds including 220 ICU beds.
