His Majesty King Abdullah II Tuesday inaugurated a military field hospital designed to receive coronavirus patients in Zarqa. The Prince Hashem field hospital is equipped with approximately 300 beds and innovative medical equipment.

The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Yousef al-Hunaity previously instructed the Royal Medical Services (RMS) to provide Prince Hashem Hospital in Zarqa and Prince Rashid Hospital in Irbid with mobile field hospitals to increase their capacities to better cope with the coronavirus crisis.

Hunaity also instructed the RMS to increase the capacity of hospitals across the Kingdom with caravans designed for PCR sample testing.

The Minister of Health Nathir Obeidat previously said the increase in COVID-19 infections this week is small, meaning that the pandemic curve has begun to stabilize.

He added that hospitals are still capable of admitting new COVID-19 patients.
