Palestine records nine deaths and 1,558 new coronavirus cases

Palestine recorded nine deaths and 1,558 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, announced the Palestinian Minister of Health Mai al-Kaileh Monday.

The new deaths involved five in the West Bank and four in Gaza Strip.

The recovery rate in Palestine stands at 83.4 percent, while the active case rate is 15.8 percent and the death rate is 0.8 percent.

The new coronavirus cases include 138 in Hebron; 178 in Nablus; 135 in Bethlehem; 56 in Qalqilya; 84 in Ramallah and Al-Bireh; 88 in Jenin; 17 in Jericho and Al-Aghwar; 53 in Salfit; 56 in Tulkarem; 30 in Tubas; 689 in Gaza Strip; and 28 in the suburbs of Occupied Jerusalem.

The recovery cases include 25 in Hebron; 36 in Jenin; 109 in Nablus; 14 in Salfit; 32 in Tulkarem; 13 in Qalqilya; 81 in Ramallah and Al-Bireh; nine in Jericho; and 198 in Gaza Strip.

Currently, 52 people are in the Intensive Care Unit and nine are on ventilators.

A total of 7,189 PCR tests were conducted Monday, added Kaileh.
