Jordan has reached a stage where the source of coronavirus infections cannot be determined due to the increasing number of cases, said the spokesman for the National Committee for Epidemics, Nazir Obeidat, on Friday.
There are COVID-19 hotspots in different parts of the country and there is no link between them, he added.
The coronavirus crisis in Jordan has reached a point where it has spread across the whole kingdom, added Obeidat in a statement to Jordan TV.
The approach when it comes to dealing with the pandemic has changed, he added.
"Our goal in the first stage was to prevent the virus from entering Jordan or to keep the infection rate at a minimum. Therefore, the government took harsh measures, the Kingdom did not invent these measures, as several countries adopted such methods, for they are found in medical books and literature," said Obeidat.
He said that the government did not have the experience, means of protection or knowledge bout the virus that it has now.
"Today, the situation is different, we know a lot about COVID-19, and we know about the impact of lockdown on life, especially total lockdowns, so we must change our strategy," Obeidat added.
