Students who wish to be transferred from private to public schools in Jordan will no longer be able to after September 17, the Central Planning Committee of the Ministry of Education announced.

It also decided to postpone the start of kindergartens until Sunday to avoid overcrowding during the first few days of students returning to school.

The number of students registered in public kindergartens is about 60,180, with around 2,975 classrooms set up for them.

The ministry called on parents, students and teachers to adhere to all precautionary measures to make the learning process easier and successful.

The ministry has previously announced new health restrictions following the start of the new academic year.

The restrictions specify that teachers or students who suffer from chronic diseases that may cause immune deficiency, such as lung diseases, obesity, diabetes and cancer, should move towards distance learning and students should not be sent to schools if they suffer from high temperature, general exhaustion, sore throat or coughing, the ministry said.

In addition, the ministry called on students to adhere to wearing masks while they are on school transport and to keep a distance of at least one metre between each student.
