A second lockdown should not be an option, said Firas Hawwari, Head of the Pulmonology Department at the King Hussein Cancer Center, in an interview on Roya’s Nabd Al-Balad on Tuesday.

Referencing the new COVID-19 cases discovered among the centre’s staff, Hawwari said 80 tests have been conducted on those who have been in contact with the infected people and all results came back negative.

Work at the centre is continuing as normal, he said.

However, Ahmad al-Armouti, former Head of the Medical Syndicate, said the Jordanian strategy of dealing with the virus needs an evaluation to recognise what is wrong and right.

Al-Armouti questioned whether the government had fully considered the issue of border crossings in Jordan, after local cases were recorded from Jaber Border Crossing, adding that this issue started months ago with an al-Khanasiri driver.
