Irbid confirms two new COVID-19 cases

Two new coronavirus cases were confirmed in Irbid on Friday evening, following an initial positive test result of a lawyer.

The cases involve the lawyer’s 30-year-old sister and her 11-year-old daughter, the Ministry of Health announced.

Tests were carried out on all members of the lawyer's family.

A further 30 tests were conducted in Irbid governorate after the inital positive result one infection, and all results were negative, except for the two cases referred to, said Irbid’s Health Director, Riyad al-Sheyyab.

The two cases were taken to the isolation department at Prince Hamza Hospital in Amman, he added.

On Saturday, the epidemiological investigation teams will start collecting further samples from anyone who came into contact with the lawyer, as well as staff at the Palace of Justice in Irbid, al-Sheyyab said.
