14 new COVID-19 cases recorded in Jordan

Fourteen new coronavirus cases were confirmed in Jordan on Sunday, all from abroad, bringing the total number to 1,168 since the start of the crisis.

The Minister of Health said in a press conference, of the recorded cases eight have travelled from Saudi Arabia, two from Iraq, two from Ukraine and two are truck drivers.

He said five people have recovered from COVID-19, adding that 6,658 random tests were conducted today, bringing the total number conducted so far to 565,109.

Jaber confirmed the government has not decided to prohibit prayers or implement lockdown procedures during Eid Al-Adha.

He also warned citizens about the heat wave in the upcoming days and advised them to drink plenty of water.

Jaber reiterated the need to adhere to preventive measures, especially avoiding kissing and shaking hands during the holiday.

He added that although there has been a decrease in the number of cases, many people have been reckless in adhering to the safety measures.
