A Royal Decree has been issued on Monday, October 28, 2019, approving the resignation of Walid Maani from his position as Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research as of October 27, 2019.

Another Royal Decree was issued, approving the assigning of Minister of State for Legal Affairs, Mubarak Abu Yamin to administer the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, as of 27 October 2019.

Earlier yesterday, Prime Minister Omar Razzaz has submitted the resignation of Maani, to His Majesty King Abdullah II, who has the power to accept it under the provisions of the Constitution.

On the reasons for the resignation, a source said that Maani submitted his resignation just before a government reshuffle, as he expected he would be dismissed following the recent teachers' strike.
