The Jordanian government has closed a lane in Al-Umawyeen Street, the street that leads to the US Embassy of Amman in Abdoun. Interior Minister, Samir Mubaidin, attributed the closing to “security reasons”.

When asked by MP Saleh al-Armouti on Sunday, Mubaidin responded that Jordan is obligated to offer protection to diplomatic missions in the kingdom as a host country and assured that the government will reopen the roadside when the reasons for it have been eliminated.

Additionally, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, said that host countries are responsible for providing protection to diplomatic missions in accordance with international statues. Similarly, Jordan expects other countries to protect Jordanian diplomats if they were threatened.
