The world’s most widely read travel magazine, National Geographic Traveler, released its annual list for the top 21 best places to visit in 2018, and the “Jordan Trail” was among them.

The list, that is compiled by a team of writers and photographers, had 21 destinations from around the world to be visited in 2018, with tips and images for readers.

The 400-mile Jordan Trail is a new hiking path linking ancient trade routes in the kingdom. It is believed to be the same trail previously walked through by Jesus, Moses, and Mohammed, according to the magazine’s article on their website.

The trail is divided into eight separate sections, leading through Jordanian forests, canyons, deserts, and along the shores of the Red Sea.

With the ongoing turbulence across the region, Jordan has seen its visitors number decrease in recent years.

However, Jordan remains a safe and stable country in the region, rich with ancient monuments that date as far back as the 4th century BC, the magazine confirmed.

The “Jordan Trail” was established by the help of the Jordanian Trail Association (JRT), formed to help in the development of the trail, in addition to facilitating its accessibility by providing comprehensive information regarding the trail.

They commented on the magazine’s choice on facebook, stating:

Lina Annab, the Jordanian Tourism Minister commented on the magazine’s release on her Facebook page saying:

Furthermore, Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) Director Abed Al Razzaq Arabiyat told the Jordan Times that the announcement is a reflect of the board’s efforts in “placing Jordan on the world’s tourism map” despite the regional turmoil and the economic challenges facing the Kingdom.
