Jordan is winning the battle to clamp down on gunfire at weddings and other celebratory events, according to recent findings.
The Public Security Directorate (PSD) said on Tuesday that today, the number of gun shooting incidents is at an all time low. They explained that the noticeable decline in such incidents came after the widespread anti-gun awareness campaign the department launched several weeks ago.
The PSD’s statement came after social media users circulated a video of a group of people shooting heavily at a wedding in Jordan, in which the PSD clarified that the footage isn’t recent but in fact is “several years old.”
While the PSD commended citizens’ positive response to the campaign, it urged them to continue to report any suspicious gun activity, while warning them of the legal action that will be taken against anyone who ignores the legal restrictions banning guns at these occasions.
There is a hotline (0797911911) to report gun incidents or disturbances. The PSD has been working to tackle this many a time fatal issue for the last few years, and encourages the public to remain vigilant and call through with any suspicions.
