Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed Al Thani said today that his country is “evaluating its role as a mediator between Hamas and Israel” in the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip.

Al Thani added that Qatar sees attempts by politicians to “undermine” Qatar’s mediation efforts for their own personal gain.

"We're evaluating the mediation [process] and all parties' engagement in It."

He added that Qatar made “extensive” contact with Iran and the United States in efforts to contain any possible escalation

Al Thani’s statements came in a press conference with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan, where the latter expressed his country’s commitment to establishing an independent Palestinian state along the borders of 1967.

Turkey expressed its support for Qatar’s mediation efforts between Hamas and the Israeli Occupation, which previously yielded a one week ceasefire which saw an exchange of prisoners and the entry of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip in November, 2023.
