Jordan condemned Thursday the “Israeli” authorities' decision to install iron barriers at three gates of the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, labeling it as a dangerous and unacceptable step.

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ambassador Sufian Al-Qudah, warned on Thursday of the continued imposition of measures by the “Israeli” authorities aimed at controlling the entry of worshipers into the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif.

He stressed the need to ensure unrestricted access to the entire Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, as it is a purely worship place for Muslims with its entire area of 144 dunums.

Al-Qudah reiterated that "Israel" does not have sovereignty over occupied East Jerusalem and does not have the right to impose any restrictions hindering the entry of worshipers into the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif.

He emphasized that the administration of the Jerusalem Awqaf and Al-Aqsa Affairs, under the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, is the sole authority responsible for managing the affairs of the entire Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif and regulating access to it.

He emphasized that the ongoing and rejected provocative practices against the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif constitute a blatant violation of international law and the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its holy sites.

Al-Qudah renewed his call to the international community to fulfill its responsibilities and stop the ongoing and continuous “Israeli” violations of international law.
