His Majesty King Abdullah II affirmed the necessity of immediate action to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza during a meeting with several members of the American Senate on Tuesday.

He emphasized the urgency of greater international efforts to halt the ongoing war, which has resulted in a humanitarian catastrophe.

In the presence of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, His Majesty highlighted how the continuation of the conflict in Gaza undermines prospects for rekindling the peace process.

Reiterating his rejection of any initiatives that could lead to the displacement of Gazans, whether internally or externally, His Majesty underscored the imperative for the people of Gaza to be able to return to their homes.

Furthermore, he cautioned against the escalation of hostilities and the worsening situation in the West Bank and Jerusalem due to ongoing violence by extremist settlers targeting Palestinians.

His Majesty also emphasized the pressing need to establish a political framework for achieving a just and comprehensive peace, based on the two-state solution, as the only path to stability in the region.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, as well as by His Majesty's Office Director Dr. Jafar Hassan, and Jordan's Ambassador to Washington Dina Kawar.
