Palestinian prime minister Mohammad Shtayyeh described the death of Khader Adnan, a Palestinian hunger striker who died in Israeli Occupation custody, as a "deliberate assassination."

The statement came during a cabinet meeting in West Bank's Ramallah.

"We consider this a deliberate assassination by rejecting his request for his release, neglecting him medically and keeping him in his cell, despite the seriousness of his health condition," said Shtayyeh.

Earlier Tuesday, Palestinian prisoner Khader Adnan died after 87 days of hunger strike, authorities said.

Adhan was being held in "difficult" conditions, his wife said Friday after an advocacy group warned his health is deteriorating.

He was arrested by Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) at his home near the city of Jenin on Feb. 5, 2023.
