Google joins forces with Jordanian AI Startup Replit

Alphabet Inc.’s Google is partnering up with Replit Inc. to bring together its AI language models with the startup's software to help programmers write code.

This partnership with the Jordanian company aims to compete with Microsoft Corp.’s GitHub and OpenAI's products.

Replit's Ghostwriter app will depend on Google’s language-generation AI to "improve its ability to suggest blocks of code, complete programs and answer developer questions," as reported by Bloomberg.

Google Cloud Vice President June Yang did not disclose which language AI products the company will be using but said that it is a "customized combination of systems that address different tasks like chat and code-generation," according to Bloomberg.

As part of the partnership, Replit will increase its use of Google’s cloud services, in hopes of winning over bigger-scale corporate customers, and Google will distribute the startup's software.
