The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) solved a case involving the murder of an individual of Arab nationality, 35 years after the crime was committed.

The media spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate (PSD) said that one of the CID’s investigation teams was assigned to reopen old unsolved cases. One of these cases was a crime committed back in 1987, involving an individual of Arab nationality who died after getting shot twice. The body was discovered in a building that was under construction, where the deceased worked as a security guard.

The spokesperson explained that the investigation team found new information that led them to identify a suspect who works in the same building, located north of Amman.

After the suspect was arrested and interrogated, he admitted to committing the crime. He said that he worked in the same building and had planned to steal equipment and materials from the construction site at night. When he arrived at the location, the deceased was guarding the site and tried to stop him, so he shot him and fled the scene of the crime.

The case was referred to the Public Prosecutor of the Grand Criminal Court, who decided to detain the criminal in a correctional and rehabilitation center on charges of premeditated murder.
