October is the month of Breast Cancer Awareness, and Roya News English wanted to support women by helping raise awareness about the impact of this cancer and the effect it has on women in Jordan and around the world.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month was launched in 1985 and its early goal was to educate women about cancer, early detection tests, and to promote mammograms as vital in the fight against breast cancer.

In 2020, over two million women in the world were diagnosed with breast cancer, and with such diagnosis, the patient’s mental health can be affected and according to one analysis, mortality rates were found to be 26 times higher in patients with depressive symptoms and 39 times higher in patients who had been diagnosed with major depression.

Breast cancer is the most commonly occurring cancer in women and the second most common cancer but its survival rates are really high, according to experts.

Roya News English sat down with a number of women who spoke about their experiences in their fight against breast cancer.

Amal Dabbas, a mother, actress and cancer survivor told Roya News English “Facing death is a reason to live.”
