Firms and businesses which have failed to pay their employees and dismissed them in violation of the Defence Order and subsequent regulations will not be allowed to recruit foreign laborers or renew their work permits, under a decision taken by the Minister of Labor, Nidal Batayneh.

Other penalties will be taken against those employers unless they remedy their status, Labor Ministry spokesman, Ghaida Awamleh, said in a statement on Monday.

She added that these measures aim to protect the rights of workers and stop violations by employers under the current financial crisis.

"The Defence Order No. 6 of 2020 was issued to help sectors most impacted by the coronavirus crisis, in addition to providing labor protection in light of the available capabilities," she indicated.
