Tens of striking teachers have staged a protest march in Irbid on Tuesday, September 17, 2019, demanding a 50% raise on their salaries.

"We are staging this protest march today in the way of pride and dignity," Deputy Head of the Jordanian Teachers Syndicate Nasser Al-Nawasrah said during the march, adding that teachers will never waive their right to receive the 50% raise.

Responding to those who say that teachers are materialistic, Nawasrah confirmed that this demand is in a reform step, where teachers won't have to look for an extra job to get better living conditions.

He pointed out that, "Jordan does not have an issue related to its economy, but related to the management of its economic situation."
