Senior Fatah Leader Hussien Shekh said that Hamas is delaying the implementation of the reconciliation agreement, signed on October 12, which will allow the unity government to extend its control in the Gaza Strip, according to Maan News Agency.

"The level of power of the government does not exceed 5 % at the moment; financially, administratively, or when it comes to the security compounds," he said in an interview on the Palestinian official television.

Shekh said that the financial control is a main part of the government empowerment, and that he wants the government to take over the Gaza Strip in the same way that they control the West Bank.

Shekh said that Fatah offered Hamas a major national project and a real partnership, "I can’t go to talk about the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), for example, before we end the division."

Responding to the statements made by Hamas leaders about weapons of resistance, Shekh said, “Resistance weapon is not organisational or affiliated. We will not allow this. There will be only one weapon and one law.”
