Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was interrogated by Israeli police over corruption allegations for the sixth time this month, reported local Israeli media.

Netanyahu is facing two separate criminal investigations: Case 1000 and Case 2000.

In Case 1000, Netanyahu is suspected of receiving gifts and favours from wealthy businessmen and high-profile figures, such as Hollywood producer Arnon Milchan. The gifts have an estimated worth of thousands of dollars each. Milchan was interrogated for the same reason earlier in July.

In Case 2000, investigators are also aiming to find out if the Prime Minister had signed a confidential agreement with the owner of the Israeli newspaper Yediot Ahronot, in order to guarantee a biased media coverage that is in favour of his government.

Netanyahu has denied any wrongdoing, claiming that the accusations are rumors aiming to remove him from power.

Netanyahu is the second Israeli Prime Minister to face such charges; former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert spent 16 months in jail after being charged with receiving a huge bribe when he was the Head of the Jerusalem Municipality - he was freed in July this year.
