Hagari added that the IOF will work diligently to retrieve the 128 captives still being held in the Gaza Strip by Hamas since Oct. 7, 2023.

Efforts to recover the bodies had been “ongoing for a long time,” Hagari said in the statement.

Hebrew media reported that the “Israeli” army had not initially planned to announce the recovery of the captives until the operation was concluded, but chose to do so after rumors spread out on social media.
