The Israeli occupation is planning to erect new settlements within Palestinian neighborhoods or in close proximity to them, east of the occupied city of Jerusalem, according to the “Israeli” human rights organization "Ir Amim."

The organization stated on Monday that 17 blueprints for the occupation within the Green Line east of Jerusalem have been submitted since Oct. 7,2023, with a total of more than 8,400 settlement units, with four of them designated for entirely new settlements to be built within or near Palestinian neighborhoods.

It further noted that while the world's attention is focused on Gaza and the borders with Lebanon, projects in settlement neighborhoods east of Jerusalem are being rapidly promoted, swiftly approved by Benjamin Netanyahu's government.

The organization pointed out that the occupation government is exploiting the aggression on Gaza to solidify further facts on the ground in Palestinian areas, this time in the "Nofei Rahel" settlement to be constructed at the entrance of the Um Tuba main neighborhood south-east of occupied Jerusalem, which includes 650 new settlement units.
