The Directorate of Operations and Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates announced that efforts are underway to evacuate 54 Jordanian citizens from the Gaza Strip today, Tuesday - as they were granted permission by the border crossing authorities to depart through the Rafah Crossing into the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The Ministry's official spokesperson, Ambassador Sufian Al-Qudah, clarified that a team from the Jordanian Embassy in Cairo has been present on the Egyptian side of the Rafah Crossing since the beginning of the evacuation operations from Gaza.
They oversee the evacuation process for Jordanian citizens residing and present in Gaza. The team receives evacuated Jordanian citizens, ensures they receive necessary assistance and medical care, and transports them to the ports of Nuweiba and Cairo using buses provided by the embassy.
Their aim is to expedite their return to the Kingdom as soon as possible. Al-Qudah affirmed that the team continues to be present on the Egyptian side of the Rafah Crossing, supervising evacuation operations for Jordanian citizens residing and present in Gaza, and providing them with all forms of assistance and support.
Furthermore, Al-Qudah stated that the number of Jordanian citizens residing and present in Gaza, registered in the database since the beginning of the intense conflict in Gaza, has reached 1184 individuals to date, of whom 721 have been evacuated.
Ambassador Al-Qudah reiterated the call for Jordanian citizens residing and present in Gaza to contact the Directorate of Operations and Consular Affairs at the Ministry to request assistance.
