Hamas leader, Osama Hamdan, stated that during a meeting between Hamas' delegation in Cairo and the Egyptian and Qatari mediators, the response of Hamas to the Paris proposal was discussed.
The Egyptians and Qataris saw the response positively and believed it paved the way for reaching an agreement.
Hamas has reviewed the Israeli Occupation's response to the Paris proposal in which its representatives participated and agreed upon. We see that the Israeli Occupation's response represents a retreat from the same Paris proposal and imposes conditions and obstacles that do not help in reaching an agreement to halt the aggression against our people, Hamdan said.
"The Israeli Occupation's response to the Paris proposal fails to ensure the freedom of movement for civilians, the repatriation of displaced individuals to their homes, the withdrawal of the Israeli Occupation army from all Gaza Strip territories, and its failure to comply with the imperative of opening crossings and ensuring the freedom of movement for travelers and the wounded. Additionally, the terms presented by the Israeli Occupation for a prisoner exchange underscore its lack of seriousness in reaching such a deal."
He pointed out that Netanyahu's behavior and positions confirm that he continues his policy of evasion and procrastination, not interested in reaching an agreement, attempting to prolong the duration of the war, and buying time for personal calculations related to his political future.
He stressed that "Hamas is sticking to its position and has been and continues to be keen on reaching an agreement that achieves the cessation of aggression against our people, the withdrawal of the occupation army from the Gaza Strip, the relief of our people, the return of residents to their areas, reconstruction, lifting the siege on the Gaza Strip, and achieving a prisoner exchange."
