UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak stated Tuesday that Yemen’s Houthis “continue to pose an ongoing and immediate threat to commercial shipping and the UK's partners,” and that London will continue to respond to Houthi attacks in the Red Sea if they persist.
Speaking to the House of Commons, Sunak emphasized that the UK will “not hesitate” to respond to further threats.
"We acted in line with international law, in self defense, and in response to an immediate threat," he said, adding that the targets “were carefully selected,” as reported by the British Broadcasting Corporation.
"We are not seeking confrontation, but if necessary, the United Kingdom will not hesitate to respond in self-defense. We cannot stand idly by and allow these attacks to go unanswered."
