The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that a cruise missile targeting a US destroyer was launched towards the USS Laboon, and was intercepted by a fighter jet.

The missile was launched from areas controlled by the Houthis, per the statement.

US destroyer USS Laboon was operating in the southern Red Sea at the time of targeting, and the missile was successfully intercepted by a US fighter jet off the coast of the city of Hodeidah - no injuries or damage have been reported.

A US military official confirmed earlier Sunday that Washington and its allies did not carry out any strikes on the port of Hodeidah in western Yemen.

"No US or coalition strikes were conducted today," said the official cited by AFP, after Houthi-affiliated media reported that new US and British airstrikes targeted the city of Hodeidah.
