Palestinian Christians, religious leaders, monks, priests, and those who make pilgrimages to Jerusalem complained of being subjected to fierce attacks by Israeli settlers specifically during their holidays in the city of Jerusalem.
Several videos went viral on social media showing a group of Israeli Occupation settlers "spitting" on a group of Christian worshipers for no apparent reason while they were celebrating the Jewish holiday of "Sukkot" in the Occupied Old city of Jerusalem.
Coordinator of the World Church Council in Jerusalem, Youssef Dhaher, said Christian pilgrims in Jerusalem have been subjected to regular attacks in the past two years, specifically under the current Israeli Occupation government.
He pointed out that officials in the church are not satisfied because the world does not intervene to stop such attacks against Christians, the latest of which was when the Holy Monastery of the Praetorium was attacked by Israeli Occupation settlers six months ago.
Dhaher added that Israeli Occupation settlers "spat in the face of a priest" from the Armenian community in the city of Jerusalem a year ago.
He confirmed that officials in the church filed 12 statements protesting such violations and attacks at the end of 2021.
