The Egyptian Ministry of Education banned female students from wearing the niqab in both public, private and international schools, and for all grades, in accordance with its ministerial decision to specify school attire for all students.

The ministry has clarified that the wearing of the headscarf, known as the "hijab," by female students is optional as long as it does not obscure their faces.

Any depictions or styles of head coverings that contradict this requirement will not be considered, with a focus on adhering to the color specified by the relevant educational authority.

Furthermore, it is imperative that parents or guardians are fully aware of their daughters' choices regarding attire. These choices should be made freely, without external pressure or influence, the ministry’s statement added.
