Thursday night, the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) broke into the Bab al-Rahma Prayer Hall, located within the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied Jerusalem, as reported by the Palestinian news agency WAFA.
According to witnesses present at the scene, the IOF caused extensive damage as they stormed the prayer hall, conducted searches, vandalized parts of its contents and confiscated other items.
For years, the Israeli Occupation authorities have been targeting the Bab al-Rahma Prayer Hall in an attempt to take over it and convert it into a Jewish synagogue.
The Bab al-Rahma Prayer Hall, like the rest of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, is administered by the Islamic Waqf, which is responsible for the management and maintenance of Islamic holy sites in Jerusalem.
The ongoing attempts by Israeli Occupation authorities to impose control over the holy site raise concerns about the protection of religious freedom and the preservation of cultural heritage.
