A 15-year-old girl was killed by her brother in Amman, who attacked her with a scythe (a tool used for cutting crops) after getting into an argument because she brought him breakfast without bread.

The Grand Criminal Court sentenced him to 20 years in prison for premeditated murder.

According to the Court of Cassation, a misunderstanding occurred between the siblings, after the victim prepared breakfast but did not bring him bread, during which he slapped her and pulled her hair.

According to a witness, his other sister tried but failed to stop him from attacking the victim who tried to shield herself but ended up with several injuries in different parts of her body.

Eventually, the other sister managed to take the weapon away from her brother's hands, after which she called the civil defense for help.

The victim, who was in a coma at the time, was immediately rushed to the hospital.

Upon arrival, the victim required CPR and was then placed on breathing support, but died soon after.

Notably, one of her legs was amputated before she died.

Due to the fact that their father, who had passed away, had forfeited his personal right from his accused son in a previous inheritance case, the court did not give him a death sentence.
