Amidst bias within Western media outlets, a renowned British-American journalist Mehdi Hasan has been actively reporting on the hidden conspiracies behind the sporadic Israeli Occupation raids on Gaza Strip and its iron fist against West bankers, under occupation since 1967.

'Israel's world-class weapons industry conveniently tests equipment on occupied Palestinians'

Mehdi Hasan spoke about the recent wave of strikes in Gaza that claimed the lives of over 30 Palestinians between May 9-13. He posted an Instagram video on Friday, May 19, in which he talked about the ongoing conflict in Palestine, especially the recent one in Gaza as the Israeli Occupation repeatedly claimed that their bombing was a "response to rocket fire the previous week by the Islamic Jihad group."

He said that the Israeli Occupation tries to frame all its actions as a “war against terrorism, while Palestinians say it's really about racism and colonialism and occupation.”

And despite the ceasefire, Hasan stressed: "there's no indication of any end in sight for the conflict in Gaza."

“It's a seemingly never-ending chain of violence and chaos in which Palestinians bear the brunt of the casualties.”

In his coverage, Hasan referred to a book titled: "The Palestine Laboratory: How Israel Exports the Technology of Occupation around the World," written by Australian-German journalist Antony Loewenstein. 

The book explores ways in which the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) have used the occupied Palestinian territories as a testing battleground for weaponry and surveillance technology, which they then export globally. The impact of this technology on global conflicts and human rights abuses is highlighted in the book, scheduled to be released on May 23. It all exposes the complicity of governments and trans-continental corporations in these illicit activities.

In short, it is a sharp expose of how the Israeli Occupation has been exporting its military technology and control tactics to other countries across the globe.

He then continued to speak about Loewenstein’s new book. He said: “See, Israel's occupation of the Palestinian territories has been going on since 1967, and its clash with the Arabs since 1948. But after 9/11, the conflict in the region took a new turn as Israel positioned itself as a key ally in the global war on terror.”

According to Loewenstein's narrative of the Israeli Occupation strategy, “Israel has developed a world-class weapons industry with equipment conveniently tested on occupied Palestinians, then marketed as battle tested.”

“Loewenstein even details an Israeli defense company using actual footage of their drones striking in Gaza in their promotional video, a strike that may have, as global arms trade expert Andrew Feinstein told him, turned out to have killed civilians, including kids,” Hasan added.

But, could it be a strategy that has bolstered the Israeli Occupation economy?

According to the book, yes it could be as Israeli Occupation's defense industry is now one of its leading export businesses.

In 2021, the Israeli Occupation Defense Ministry revealed their annual arms sales have reached unprecedented levels. SIBAT, the ministry’s International Defense Cooperation Directorate, reported a remarkable increase in demand for “Israeli-made weapons.”

SIBAT announced defense exports reached USD 11.3 billion in 2021, in comparison to USD 8.3 billion in 2020.

Between 2018 and 2022, the Israeli Occupation sat on the list of the world's top ten biggest exporters of major weapons.

‘Gaza serves as testing ground and key selling point for Israeli weaponry’

Hasan said that in the book it is shown that the Gaza Strip not only serves as a testing ground and key selling point for Israeli Occupation weaponry, “but the nations that purchase these weapons are then more likely to turn a blind eye to any abuses committed by Israel.”

As Loewenstein wrote, and Hasan quotes: “Israel has sold so much defense equipment to so many nations that it hopes to insulate itself from any political backlash to its endless occupation.”

And according to the book, as long as the world's richest countries keep buying their weapons, Israeli Occupation is unlikely to face any “real political consequences for its illegal occupation of Palestinian territories.”
