A pregnant woman, 33, and her toddler son were found dead in a home in northern Idaho, authorities said.

Shoshone County Sheriff Holly Lindsey said on Facebook that authorities responded at around 8:30pm Wednesday to a report of a death at the home.

There they found the bodies of Elizabeth Lawley and her 2-year-old son.

Both the mother and the toddler had gunshot wounds. Preliminary investigation indicates that the mother shot and killed the boy and then herself, according to the sheriff.

According to the sheriff, Lawley had been pregnant.

“Today was an extremely difficult day for the family, for our office, and for this community. And I can only imagine what the family is going through,” the Facebook post said.
