Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, said that Jordan was the most affected by the Syrian crisis and steps had to be taken to solve it.

He added, in a press conference with his Dutch counterpart Wopke Hoekstra on Monday, that the responsibility of the refugee issue is not only that of the host countries but the international community must provide assistance as well.

“The Syrian crisis has caused many disasters and steps had to be taken to gradually solve the crisis. We are fully aware that the road is difficult and complex, and that there are many issues that must be dealt with,” Safadi said.

Safadi explained that he agreed with his Dutch counterpart to increase cooperation in the agricultural and water sectors in light of the experience the Netherlands has in the aforementioned sectors.

He also stressed the importance of developing bilateral relations in various fields with the Netherlands as Jordan is working to build a solid base of strong relations that unite the two royal families, in the context of a partnership that sees great benefit in sustaining and developing this relationship.

The two foreign ministers also agreed to strengthen the friendship between the two countries in many fields, within the framework of partnership with the European Union.
