Sunday, the Israeli Occupation authorities demolished the donor-funded Challenge Five School in the village of Bayt Ta’mar in Bethlehem, as reported by the Palestinian news agency WAFA.

This comes six years after the same school, which had 60 students, was rebuilt after it was demolished for the first time in 2017.

The Director of Education in Bethlehem Bassam Jabr said that the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) stormed the village, surrounded the school, seized some property and then demolished it.

The director of the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission in Bethlehem, Hassan Brijieh, said the Israeli Occupation High Court issued a ruling in March to demolish the school after it rejected a petition submitted by the commission and the St. Yves human rights organization to cancel the demolition of the school.

He noted that the school was built on an eight-dunum land donated by Palestinians and has all the required legal documents proving land ownership.

Confrontations erupted between the IOF and local residents following the demolition of the school, during which teargas was fired at residents causing them breathing difficulties.
