Monday, the European Union expressed its disapproval of the remarks made by the Israeli Occupation’s Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich describing them as "wrong, disrespectful, dangerous, and counterproductive in an already very tense situation."
The EUs office in Jerusalem said the remarks are "once again going in the opposite direction and cannot be tolerated," as reported by the Palestinian news agency WAFA.
The EU called on the Israeli Occupation to disassociate itself from those statements and work on defusing tension.
It also reiterated its concern over the escalating violence, calling for necessary measures to be taken to take control of the situation.
It stressed the importance of the two-state solution, and the need to create an independent and sovereign Palestinian State.
