A woman in her fifties was sentenced to two years in prison for stealing JD 860 from an employee in a clothing store in Amman.

She was convicted of committing theft and ‘immoral’ actions and was therefore sentenced to two years in prison by the Grand Criminal Court.

The facts of the case revealed that the woman went into a clothing store and asked for baby clothes before trapping the employee and kissing him. She later paid him JD 5 and hurried out of the store.

The employee found she had pickpocketed him and stolen JD 860. He also added that a while later, one of her relatives offered to pay him JD 500 in exchange for dropping the charges, but he refused.

The court proved that the convict had a huge criminal record and was previously convicted and therefore she did not deserve to be considered for mitigating discretionary reasons.
