The French state-owned international news television network, France 24, issued a statement following social media posts accusing it of firing its Arabic-speaking editorial staff.

The network stressed its commitment to fighting all forms of discrimination, adding that it opened an internal investigation into four journalists from its Arabic-speaking editorial staff.

France 24 suspended the four journalists after they shared content on their personal social media accounts which were allegedly considered "anti-semitic."

Investigations and internal audits are ongoing, according to the network.

France 24's code of ethics stipulates that their journalists' social media accounts must comply with "professional and ethical rules (…) and not to violate the values of ethics, independence, and impartiality of the company (…).”

They added: "The measures taken in the context of this situation aim to protect the integrity of the work of the entire Arabic-speaking editorial staff of France 24."

Earlier, several social media accounts said that France 24 fired the Palestinian journalist, Laila Ouda, after she was accused of anti-semitism for supporting the Palestinian cause.

Laila Ouda is a Palestinian journalist, born in Bethlehem in 1970. She has a BA in English Literature from Russia and has worked for several TV stations.

Ouda has over 30 years of experience in journalism and is one of the prominent faces of France 24.

Many Palestinian journalists and supporters showed solidarity with Ouda on their personal accounts on Twitter.
