Picnickers in Amman enjoyed the spring-like weather Friday then left behind huge amounts of trash, which attracted stray dogs to the public parks.

Litter filled the Ghamdan Park and Amman National Park Friday, which was left for people to see Saturday morning.

Being resource-oriented, stray dogs filled these parks due to the presence of leftover food in the trash left behind.

- Legal consequences -

The relevant law includes penalties starting from JD 50 up to JD 1,000, in addition to jail time for a period of no less than one week for those who litter.

A fine of JD 50-500 will be imposed on anyone who dumbs liquid waste, old/broken devices, wood, tree pruning residues, weeds, soil, silt, or construction waste in the streets, on the sidewalks, or in any other place in a manner that causes harm.

Notably, the penalties are doubled if it is not the first time.
