Architectural expert, Fares Baqain, said that most buildings in Jordan do not pose any danger because they are between three and four floors high, explaining that buildings are designed to take longitudinal loads, while an earthquake shakes the ground from below.

He added in an interview with Roya that the fear rises from the fact that some buildings in Jordan are built randomly, with unknown contents of cement and iron.

He stressed that although the concerned supervisory inspection committees inspect the buildings, that remains insufficient, adding that some buildings that were built without a supervising engineer or a contractor.
