Three suspected youth suicide cases were reported last year, whereby the individuals did not intend on killing themselves but wanted to imitate scenes they have seen in TV series or video games, as reported by the National Center for Forensic Medicine.

According to the director of the center Majed Al-Shamayleh Thursday, all the children involved were under 15 years of age.

He also spoke about child murder, saying a 20-month-old was killed during a family dispute.

The child is believed to have been hit on the head or dropped on the ground, which led to fatal injuries and fractures in the head, he added.

He explained that the center is notified of all murder and suicide cases by the police and emergency rooms.

The number of murders committed in Jordan in 2022 reached 118, which is 14 more crimes than those recorded in 2021, according to the center's figures.

As for suicide, the number dropped to 145 from 167 in 2021, the report added.
