Friday, a 48-year-old Palestinian freedom fighter, identified as Abu Ali, passed away in an Israeli Occupation hospital after his health deteriorated due to medical negligence.

Notably, Abu Ali, who is from the town of Yatta in the West Bank, was meant to be released in one year, after 11 years in Israeli Occupation prisons.

His death drew widespread protests in the occupied territories and charges of war crimes.

Dozens of Palestinians held a protest in Tubas denouncing the Israeli Occupation’s policy of medical negligence against Palestinian prisoners, which has  so far led to the death of 75 freedom fighters since 1967.

The Palestinian Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Commission held the Israeli Occupation Prison Services responsible for Abu Ali’s death for not providing him with the proper medical attention during his incarceration despite his bad health condition, including heart problems, high blood pressure and diabetes.

Tubas governor Ahmad al-Assad said that the Israeli Occupation targets prisoners with its medical negligence policy that leads to their slow death, calling on the international community to intervene to force the Israeli Occupation to end this policy.

Mayor of Tubas Husam Daraghme said what happens in the prisons is considered a war crime due to its violation of international law.
