The earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria Monday caused aftershocks that led to the collapse of the roof of a garage in Irbid.

The owner of the house told Roya that he felt the earthquake then heard a loud bang coming from the side of the house, which came from the garage when the roof collapsed.

He added that the collapse caused great material damage, but none of the residents of the house were injured.

As of Monday noon, Jordan recorded more than 100 aftershocks as a result of the Gaziantep earthquake, which has left more than 1,600 dead in Syria and Turkey so far.

Sweidan told Roya that the Jordanian Seismological Observatory recorded an earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter scale in south-central Turkey, in addition to more than 100 aftershocks as of 12pm.

He added that the earthquake was monitored at exactly 4:16am Jordan time, and its magnitude reached 7.5 on the Richter scale, with a depth of 10km, and it was detected in Gaziantep.
