Tuesday, Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh decided to amend Defense Order No. (28) of 2021, regarding the imprisonment of the debtor, and extend its implementation until end of April.

The first item of the defense order was amended, which stipulates postponing the implementation of the debtor’s imprisonment decisions issued under the Execution Law, so that the amount does not exceed JD 20,000, which was previously JD 100,000.

The second item of the defense order, which stipulates stopping the implementation of criminal rulings that involve a prison sentence for crimes related to the issuance of a cheque with no balance, so that the amount does not exceed JD 20,000, which was previously JD 100,000.

Notably, the total number of those wanted in debt cases is 157,367 people, including 137,715 whose debts are less than JD 20,000, all of whom are included in the latest decision.
